Power Generation Dredging

Mud Cat dredges are used at oil and gas, nuclear power, and hydro power facilities around the world.  Mud Cat dredges can be used in a variety of power generation applications including, but not limited to:

  • Seawater intakes
  • Hydropower dams
  • Nuclear power plan cooling canals and ponds
  • Fly ash
  • Bottom ash
  • Oil and gas mud lagoons
  • Oil refineries

Mud Cat dredges can operate in lined and unlined industrial lagoons and can be partially or fully automated and controlled from a remote location if the pond is too hazardous.  Mud Cat Engineers can work with you to design custom systems that have the appropriate metallurgy and outer coatings to handle the harshest acidic and basic environments.

Orascom Construction selected a custom Mud Cat 25EC dredge for Assiut Supercritical Steam Power Station. The dredge cleans out the power plant’s intake which is fed directly from the Nile River.

A contractor uses their Mud Cat 275D to remove fly ash from a settling pond at a power plant on the U.S. East Coast. The dredge pumped the material directly into nearby geotextile tubes.

CCC uses a Mud Cat E-Series custom remote-control dredge to clean out the forebay at a power plant in Egypt.
